The Junior Youth Group (grades 3-6) has an event at least once a month. Generally they eat lunch together - either a meal provided by the church or brown bag - and then attend a movie, go to Six Flags, go bowling, play in the park or do a craft. Parents of the Junior Youth Group members provide event sponsorship. For information on the Junior Youth Group please contact the minister, Rev. Dr. Byron S. Wells or the Christian Education Assistant, Mary Quick. "I like to be in youth group because we get to meet all the people in youth, and we get to do a lot of activities." Cris, Youth in Action member "My favorite part about church is going to my youth group meetings. It's so
refreshing to be with the whole youth group; we always have a good time! It
really makes me feel inspired to live my life!" Brooke, Youth in Action member Past years' events have included: a Paint and Patch Mission Trip to New Orleans in 2001; attending a Work Camp at Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Mississippi in August 2002; attending the National Youth Events in Ames, Iowa (2000) and Knoxville, Tennessee (2004); shared events with other Dallas area UCC Youth groups; attending annual youth meetings of the South Central Conference; Christmas Caroling to our homebound or nursing home bound members and friends; going to Six Flags Over Texas; and participation in the Youth Choir and children's musicals. "YIA is an awesome experience! I love hanging out with my friends, the youth
sponsors, and our youth minister. Every single time we get together we have
fun. It's important to me to have a supportive group of people behind me as
my faith grows; I can count on every single one of them to be there." Emily, Youth in Action member

Youth in Action preparing Youth Sponsored Lunch in April
In September the Youth began "Youth in Action - Operation B: Building for the Future" by building a foundation for Christian involvement that includes the evaluation of projects to do for Round Grove United Church, projects to do for the local community and a project for the less fortunate in the world around them. They completed the Group Quilt that now hangs in the Youth Room.
These past months the group attended "The Golden Compass" movie, went to the Holocaust Museum in Dallas, made plans for the Youth Garden, joined the Junior Youth to DFW Airport for a "Welcome the Troops" event, and attended a Worship Service at the Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas followed by lunch at Opa's restaurant. They also enjoyed spending time together and planning the Annual Youth in Action Secret Brunch to be held on March 30th after Worship.
In 2005 the Youth in Action raised over $2600 to purchase supplies for Health Kits that were sent via Church World Service to those affected by the Pacific Tsunami.
Some of the Youth in Action members look forward to attending the 2008 National Youth Event in July to be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
