Text Box: Sunday School News - - - In Sunday School the theme of prayer continues through study of the Parables. The Parables invite us to explore what it means to pour out our hearts to God, and to confess our reliance on God’s grace and mercy. The readings for this month also explore the themes of humility and pride and how these attitudes can affect a life of discipleship. The word “humility” comes from the Latin word “humus” meaning “of the earth.” To have humility as a disciple suggests grounding one’s life in God’s love. Staffing: The CE Board is still searching for a 3rd-6th grade teacher to work with Karol Whittaker & Trish Morehead. Attendance Challenge: The Upper Elementary Sunday School class won the October Attendance Challenge! Congratulations! The Lower Elementary Class celebrated their September win with donut holes! Reminder: Paperwork for background checks need to be turned in! Adult Class: Rev. Barry Johnston leads this Adult Class, focusing on the interaction between economics & the Christian Faith, each Sunday at 9:25 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Recently, this group made available to Graham Ridgard a micro-loan to help in his small business endeavor. Graham is a local handyman and can be contacted at (214) 513-9924. He provides free estimates and can help with a wide variety of home repair issues. Adult Bible Study Class: Pastor Wells leads this Bible class, held in the Narthex on Sundays at 9:35 a.m., as they study “Romans”. Mid-week Spiritual Refresher: Grady Quick will finish leading the study on Galatians on Nov. 7th. Mary Quick will begin leading a study on “Lessons from the 23rd Psalm” which will run from Nov. 14th - Dec. 19th (no class on Nov. 21st). Participants may purchase Max Lucado’s book - “Traveling Light: Releasing the burdens you were never intended to bear.  The Promise of Psalm 23 ”.
