Sunday School

Opening Assembly begins in the sanctuary after the Gathering with Instruments. All ages gather together for a brief time before classes begin. Each week a different student is the Opening Assembly Leader who gives a prayer and lights the candle. An offering is taken and birthdays are celebrated and then students and teachers join together in going to their respective classrooms.

For those students who have perfect attendance each month, their name is listed in the newsletter. For students who have five or less absences during the school year, they receive a special attendance pin. For students with 6-10 absences in a school year, they receive a special award certificate. The pictures at the top shows all those who received perfect or outstanding attendance awards for the 2007-2008 school year. There were four students who received awards for Great Attendance at Family Summer Sunday School. For enrollment contact Mary Quick.

During the school year, the Sunday School classes participate in the Attendance Challenge. The class with the highest percentage of attendance wins the right to display the attendance trophy for the following month and have their choice of "treat".

Adults have several options during Sunday School. The Adult Bible Study Class, led by Pastor Byron Wells, meets each Sunday at 9:35 a.m. in the Narthex. The Missions and Outreach Group, facilitated by Teresa Morrow, meets each Sunday at 9:25 a.m. in the Youth Room (during the Summer). Adults can also be Sunday School teachers or helpers in the Sunday School classes. We ask that parents of students younger than 3rd grade remain at the church in case of emergency.

The Mid-week Spiritual Refresher course will return on Wednesdays beginning in September, 2009 from 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. For more information on this course, please contact Christian Education Assistant, Mary Quick.
